On a 64-bit Intel processor machine running Ubuntu 12.04 it has failed to process its first Leiden packet.

It is completing other kinds of work successfully.

It failed saying "libglut.so.3: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" but there is nothing in the Ubuntu Software centre called libgl* to install.

My other 64-bit PC, with an AMD processor, running Xubuntiu 12.04 processes Leiden packets successfully.

Any ideas?

See http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/Graphical_libs.php; you probably need to install the 64 bit versions of MESA / freeglut.

Thank you; yes, I can see now the differences between the two PCs: the one running Xubuntu does not have MESA and GLUT packages installed that the Ubuntu machine has.

Having the same problem on a Ubuntu 14.04 with an Intel Atom processor, the solution was to use the Synaptic Package Manager to install the package freeglut3
