Joined the project a couple of months ago and have already moved into the upper ranks of contributors... However, I'm already thinking about dropping it. It's the same source of dissatisfaction that caused me to drop the project I was supporting previously:

Why the deadlines?

No insult intended, but is there any reason why I should care at all about the convenience of your (whoever you are?) schedule? Sorry, but I can't see it. What I can see is various warning notices about being too slow on certain computers.

As a donor, I think my convenience should count a little bit, but apparently not. I'm sorry that I don't find it convenient to run all of my computers 24/7 and that some of my computers are kind of slow. I have a mix of machines, and some of them are only run for certain apps and on certain schedules. I'd be glad to donate the extra cycles at those times, but evidently that's too inconvenient for the people running the project?

Anyway, I dropped by the website to look around, and it mostly looks seriously dead. That doesn't bother me too much. Excessive enthusiasm can be a problem, too, and contributed to my dropping out of the first such project I joined, but this project seems to be going off in it's own weird directions...

After looking over the project website some more, it appears this is a pretty much a dead project, urgent 4-day deadlines notwithstanding. Maybe if the "wish" were granted, I would hang around, but I sure don't see any reason right now.

I'm sorry to read that deadlines are a nuisance to you. Perhaps BOINC is not the best way of volunteering your extra cycles?

As a project admin, I think a 4 day dead-line for an 8h job is more that fair as a longer dead line will result in a higher load on the server and scheduler. That in turn will result in not being able to hand out work swiftly again.
