Furthermore, the 'pending' problem of ColdRain should not be an issue anymore and too aad, I do not yet fully understand how your RAC dropped.

The thing I'm thinking of is that due to the increase of hosts, your are now competing for work with more machines. The shmem tables have not been increased because they cannot. The other thing might be because I tweaked the server to not issue more than 16 WU's anymore and the WU's have also increased in CPU time too... Hard to say what's causing this... This issue is noted and as soon as I have more on the matter I'll tell you guys...

m.

Marc, thanks for the reply.
About pending credits;(at the moment of writing this) Pending credit: 1,604.44
And dropping fast now. A few days ago it was about 2600 !!
Most of my boxes have finished their work with Leiden, exept for 4 AMD's.

At any time in the last weeks it was not a issue to gain work because I set my queue to 4 days so there was a constant flow of work.
Increasing CPU time imho was a good thing. The downside of that is that when you have a 'zero credit wu', you crunching longer for nothing.......

Just an idea; can you do a query in the database for those zero credit results?
Perhaps you can make something out of it. (and give 1 credit for each "voor de moeite")

@Marc,
Recently you announced that DPC has taken LC to one of her projects. In the DPC forum they said that to overtake Seti@Netherlands was a piece-of-cake before 01-01-2007. Ofcourse we've taken that gauntlet!
You can read here all about it (Dutch)http://forum.seti.nl/showthread.php?t=14142

Now we've succeded in holding DPC behind us till 2007, most of the boxes get back to other projects.
Personly I had 33 boxes on Leiden Classical (I first had about 10) In the time those boxes did LC my overall RAC dropped from about 13000 to 7500 !!
Check it out here http://nl.boincstats.com/stats/boinc_user_graph.php?pr=bo&id=468844 Why are credits on LC that poor? Or is it the zero credit problem?
After all a RAC of 4300 isn't a lot for 33 pc's!!(most P4's)
And I don't wanna mess with the 5.5 manager. (who is still not banned!)I leave my AMD's on this project (they seem to do better then the pentiums) for old times sake.
To DPC....it was fun competing with you!

Hi.
I have BoincLogX installed and crunching Leiden and others projects.

BoincLogX show my Leiden credits, in 2006.11.01: 1603.321529.

I reinstall windows, and Re-attach to Leiden, in 2006.12.05, using "returning user" option, but my credits goes to 0 again.

In others projects, my credits stay OK.

What´s happen?

You used "returning user" while you already have a account.
When you re-attach to the project just use your existing name and password for that project. When your attached again, go into "my computers" and you can (if you wish) merge the old computer with the re-attached computer.

Hmm... every hosts returned all different results. it's strange:(

Leiden is definitiveley the most frustating project....
But I should have known as "Leiden" means in German sickness, suffering :)

Oke, I got it the first time.. ;-)
You should know it's frustrating after all that crunching for Leiden........(115 credits) ;-))

Is this a new record?

More then 18 hours of useless crunching....... :-((

So, just cancel the "wu_80398718_*" from before the 9th of november...

m.

Mark,
By not reading your annoucement correctly I (and lots of other people) keep canceling the jobs beginning with "wu_80398718_".
You better make a brief note that this behaviour will keep this jobs in the database for ever and ever and ever.......
Sorry for that, but rather make announcement more clearly so that even I can understand the first time. ;-))

Another thing maby related to the new wu's?!
"Maximum disk usage exceeded"
Not only to my own box but to others too, like this;
http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/workunit.php?wuid=1554013
And I got plenty of disk space.....!

Here's another example;
http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/workunit.php?wuid=1555672
Three different boxes with the same problem!
Mine said;
8-11-2006 22:50:48||Rescheduling CPU: files downloaded

8-11-2006 23:19:51|Leiden Classical|Unrecoverable error for result wu_80398718_1162810588_275_3 (Maximum disk usage exceeded)

8-11-2006 23:19:58|Leiden Classical|Computation for task wu_80398718_1162810588_275_3 finished

And at the result page; Exit status -177 (0xffffffffffffff4f)
And according to this page;
http://boinc-wiki.ath.cx/index.php?title=Error_Codethis will mean; resource limit exceeded

yes, but personally I'd suggest waiting till the server is empty of most of the older, short jobs, and then wait till enough of the new longer jobs are back to be sure there are no additional bugs lurking in there.

Then when we are sure your database has room to breathe, the settings you suggest sound good to me.

R~~

That's why I set my homeboxes to 'no new work' to get rid of the old wu's first. Because of the shorter deadline of the new wu's, my boxes suspended the older wu's to do the new (long)wu's first.

Another thing maby related to the new wu's?!

Well River~~, now you know why I introduced that option as an extra feature in the first place ;-). What I do is I schedule the other result on the same CPU/host only if that host has sent in the previous one already... Some sort of safety net ther, but not perfect, I know...
m.

Well Mark, I had this again with my home box, which is a AMD 64 3000+ with WinXP.(a very common pc isn't it?)
http://boinc.gorlaeus.net/workunit.php?wuid=1551717
Did I get the same wu twice because 2 other boxes return a invalid result?
20) Message boards : : Number crunching : No work for Windows

Done... Was a very tricky issue though... Had a few near-accidents in doing this and, in the process, discovered a new 'bug' in the original make_work daemons...

m.

Had several of your 'new' longer wu's now.
But my old faithful AMD 64 3000+ does it within an hour.(box 572)
(well ok....it's OC a little...)

Do you need 4 results for every wu?
